New Year, New You: Strategies for Setting Boundaries & Avoiding Burnout
Do you find yourself struggling to keep up with an overwhelming amount of project tasks, individual requests for help/input, and the daily demands of navigating everyday conflict at work? You are not alone.

In this session, we’ll identify different types of role strain, as well as conversational strategies you can use with peers and managers to help you reduce the hidden forms of work that zap your energy and productivity, so that you can begin to recharge and focus that energy on doing the work you find most meaningful.

As a result of this session, you will be able to:

--Define and recognize four types of role-related strain in the workplace
--Uncover the hidden costs employee burnout generates for organizations and individual employees
--Understand three U.S. work-related cultural values that can exacerbate role strain: individualism, meritocracy and reverence for hierarchy
--Define and identify the role of hierarchical microaggressions in contributing to burnout
--Identify specific steps you can take – and conversations you can have – to help mitigate your own risk for burnout
--Recognize how to be an ally for coworkers who may be at risk for burnout
